The Faculty of Technology and the Materials Engineering unit at the University of Turku (Finland) has opened two tenure track positions at any track level. We seek candidates whose work is on energy technologies and energy storage in the green transition, such as batteries, battery materials, and hydrogen. The scope of the research can be from understanding fundamental mechanisms by means of computational materials science, to developing materials and devices, to energy system modelling and analysis – research methods can be experimental or computational. The research profile could be related to one or more of the following:
    • Battery materials and/or systems
    • Hydrogen storage materials and/or systems
    • Energy systems and business models, with a focus on energy storage
    • Industrial energy conversion and consumption
    • Modeling of nanomaterials and interfaces for energy storage solutions
    • Catalysts for hydrogen production or water splitting (e.g. 2D materials, …)
    • Electrochemical conversion and Solar-to-X
    • Renewable fuels and fossil free energy carriers, in particular hydrogen
    • Turbomachinery, high-temperature heat pumps
    • Gasification, biomass conversion, membrane technologiesThis is not an exhaustive list; we welcome applicants whose research complements the research lines at the Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering and bring additional value. The University of Turku is a family-friendly Finnish institution. We are committed to creating an inclusive workplace and strongly encourage applications from women, underrepresented minorities, and other diverse groups.Apply to lead a team with transformative research into next-generation technologies! Call closes on 3 March 2025.
